Getting Involved

With more than 200 registered clubs and organizations at Lamar University, students can easily pursue almost any interest. And if a relevant club does not already exist, students can always start a new one.

Student Activities

The Lamar Alive! student programming board is responsible for providing the campus with a diverse schedule of programs and extracurricular activities such as Homecoming, Rock around Clock, AIDS Awareness, Diversity Week, Lectures, Cardinal Comedy Corner, Poetry Night, and other special events. For Freshmen

New Student Orientation, hosted every summer, is is an opportunity to become acclimated to Lamar. Weekend of Welcome welcomes new and current students back with school with a variety of academic and social events the weekend prior to school.

The Freshman Year Experience is a unique leadership experience designed to assist incoming freshmen develop leadership skills during their first year at Lamar.

Student Government Association

The SGA of Lamar University provides the official voice through which student opinion may be expressed as students participate in the overall policy and decision-making of the university community. Call 409.880.8891 for more information.

Campus Ministries

Several campus ministries provide fellowship, worship and recreational activities for Lamar students. Some ministries sponsor retreats, special programs and community services.  Find a ministry for you.

Greek Council

Go Greek!  Greek Life provides an opportunity for students not only to utilize their classroom experiences but to emerge as a leader in the Lamar campus community.  Each sorority and fraternity is unique and offers something different to each of its members. We are confident that you will find a sorority or fraternity that has the ideals and values that are important to you.


Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association offers an opportunity to get involved in a proactive way to strive to make the Lamar University residence halls the best they can be. Remember, if you live on campus, the Residence Hall Association represents you.
