Log In to Self-Service Banner

The Banner Student System allows you to access current personal, registration, billing and financial aid information.

You can access the Banner Student System on the Lamar University home page or directly at this link.

Off Campus Access

If you are trying to access Self-Service Banner from a school district or government office and are unable to log in, please try this link. On this web page, choose “Enter Secure Area”. If you are still unable to open the web page, you may need to speak with your system administrator.

Logging In

  • Please use your Banner ID and your PIN to log in to Self-Service Banner.
  • Your Banner ID is located on the front of your Cardinal One card and begins with an "L."
  • If you are a new student, your ID number is included in your Lamar University acceptance letter.
  • Your PIN is your 6 digit date of birth in "mmddyy" format.
  • If you do not have your ID number, contact the Records Department at 409.880.8365 for information. 

Log In Errors

“Web Access has Been Disabled” Error

  • To have your web access enabled, contact the Service Desk at 409.880.2222.

“Authorization Failure – Invalid User ID and PIN” Error

  • To have your account reset, contact the Service Desk at 409.880.2222.

“PIN has Expired” Error

  • You just need to enter your current PIN number and create a new PIN. The new PIN must be 6 digits in length and cannot be a repeat of your previous PIN.

  • If your PIN has been reset and you are still unable to log in, you will need to contact the Records Department at 409.880.8365.

Banner Security Question

Set Your Security Question

The first time you log in to Self-Service Banner, you must create a personal security question and answer of your choice. Once you have set up your security question, you can change it at any time while logged into Self-Service Banner.

  1. To change your security question, log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Personal Information” tab.
  3. Select the “Change Security Question” option.
  4. Edit your personal question and answer.
  5. Confirm with your PIN and click "Submit."

Change Your Personal Information

Change Your Mailing Address/Phone/Email

Once you have logged in to Self-Service Banner, you can update your personal information.

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Personal Information” tab.
  3. Choose either “Update Addresses and Phones” or “Update Email Address”.
  4. Make your desired edits.
  5. Click "Submit" to finalize your changes.
  6. For further assistance with changing your personal information, click HERE.

Change Your Name/Social Security Number

Online requests for name or Social Security changes are not available. Use Self-Service Banner to view information on changing your name and/or social security number,

  1. Log into Self-Service Banner.
  2. Choose the “Personal Information" tab.
  3. Select “Name Change Information” or “Social Security Change Information” from the available options.

Change Your Self-Service Banner PIN

Students, faculty, and staff can change their Self-Service Banner PIN in Self-Service Banner.

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Choose the “Personal Information” tab.
  3. Select the "Change Your PIN or Recover LEA Username and Password" option.
  4. Edit your PIN and click "Change PIN."
  5. The PIN must be 6 digits in length and cannot be a repeat of your previous PIN.

Register/Add/Drop

The “Registration” link consists of registration status, class schedule, and add or drop classes.

Add/Drop Online

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Registration” link.
  4. Select the "Add or Drop Classes" link.

If you are unable to add or drop classes online, contact the Add/Drop office on campus at 409.880.8542 for further assistance.

View Schedule/Classes Being Offered

View Schedule

There are 3 different ways to view/print your schedule in Self-Service Banner.

  • “Week at a glance”
  • “Student Detail Schedule”
  • “Concise Student Schedule”

View Classes Being Offered

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Registration” link.
  4. Click on “Look up Classes”.

View Grades/Holds

Viewing Grades

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Student Records” link.
  4. Select the “Final Grades” link.

Viewing Holds

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose “Student Records”.
  4. Select the “View Holds” link.

Viewing and Ordering Transcripts

To view your unofficial transcript and order an official transcript in Self-Service Banner:

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Student Records” link.
  4. Within the “Student Records” menu, choose “Academic Transcript” to view and print your unofficial transcript.
To order an official transcript, you will need to choose “Request Printed Transcript.”

Pay Your Bill

Viewing Account Information

The “Student Account” links consist of your account summaries, statement and payment history, and tax information

View Account Summary

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Student Account” link.
  4. Choose “Account Summary” from the available options.
  5. For previous balances, choose “Account Summary by Term” and select the term needed.

View Payments

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. Choose the “Student Account” link.
  4. Select the  “Statement and Payment History” link.

Make a Payment

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the “Student” tab.
  3. To make a payment, choose the “Student Account” link
  4. Select the “Account Summary” link.
  5. The red link within the account summary page will lead you to the Touchnet Bill payment page.

Touchnet Bill Payment

To log into the Touchnet Bill Payment, use your Lamar ID number that begins with “L” and your 6 digit date of birth as the PIN. The 6 digit date of birth is set up as "mmddyy".

Touchnet Log in Problems

If you are using your Lamar ID number and 6 digit date of birth and experiencing difficulties, your account may need to be reset. To have your account reset, please contact the Service Desk at 409.880.2222.

View Financial Aid Information

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Choose the "Financial Aid" tab.
  3. Within the "Financial Aid" tab, you will be able to check your financial aid status, eligibility, accept your awards and view general financial aid information.

Missing Documents in Financial Aid tab

Missing documents can be found in Self-Service Banner within the "Financial Aid" tab.

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the "Financial Aid" tab.
  3. Choose the “Eligibility” link.
  4. Then select “Student Requirements” from the options.

View/Accept Financial Aid Rewards

  1. Log in to Self-Service Banner.
  2. Go to the "Financial Aid" tab.
  3. Choose the “Award” link.
  4. Select “Award for Aid Year”.
  5. Any awards that need to be accepted will be listed within this information.

The Service Desk cannot assist with accepting awards. If you have been told that awards are available but do not see any, you will need to contact the Financial Aid office for assistance at 409.880.8450.
