Lamar University promotes a safe environment conducive to acquiring and achieving academic success, and works to preserve a high standard of safety and welfare for our students, faculty, and staff. It is important to motivate and protect our students’ pursuits of educational goals. It is equally important to communicate vital information as it relates to student conduct and behavior.

The Lamar University Student Code of Conduct, in accordance with the authority established by the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System, outlines the rules, regulations, rights, and responsibilities that apply to all students on and off campus. Each Lamar University student is expected to be aware of and comply with all published university policies and will be held accountable for compliance.

Once more, it is the university’s commitment to the security and well-being of all students, faculty, staff, and members of the community that a Smoke-Free and Tobacco-Free Zone initiative is established to encourage a clean and nontoxic environment.

Lamar University has strict policies, listed in the Student Code of Conduct, related to allegations of sexual violence, illegal substance possession, and public intoxication reported on or off campus. In addition, the university has available the Critical Assessment Evaluation and Response Team (LU CARE Team), a confidential program of identification, intervention, and response, to assist students who have reportedly displayed violent, threatening, or dangerous behaviors on campus. Accordingly, these efforts will support the general goals of Lamar University and assist with the elimination of potential safety risks; nonetheless, producing current and future responsible participating citizens on our campus, in Southeast Texas, the state, our nation, and our world.
