What is Welcome Back Week?

Welcome Back Week is five days of awesome student activities designed to welcome you back to the LU campus after winter break.

For new or returning students, it's a great way to get involved and interact with new students and campus organizations. Make sure to come out to all the wonderful events!


7:30 am
Breakfast On-The-Go – Montagne Pedestrian Bridge
Featuring free coffee, juice, and bagels. Stop by on your way to class for your free morning pick-me-up! (Supplies are limited.)

11 am – 2 pm
Dry Erase Vision Board – Rec Center
Kick off the new year and set some new goals. Create your own custom vision board to keep track of your goals!

5:30 pm – 8 pm
Drop-In Dodgeball – Rec Center
Drop in a quick dodgeball game on the multipurpose courts in the Rec. Meet new and returning students, intramurals student staff, and sign up for Spring Intramurals!

6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
MLK Candlelight Service - Landes Auditorium
Each candle lit will remind us of Dr. King’s vision and hope for a world united in the belief that all human beings have a right to live with dignity and in peace.


8 am
Hot Cocoa Bar – Student Org Annex Lawn
Come in out of the cold and customize a delicious cup of hot cocoa!

11 am – 2 pm
Inflatable Sports – Rec Center
Take a break between classes and come enjoy big pink volleyball and inflatable bowling.

3 pm – 5 pm
Glow Pool Party – Indoor Pool
Come enjoy some food, fun, and GLOW at the first ever Glow Rage Pool Party! 

The Cardinal Carnival will be rescheduled at a later date due to rain!

11 am – 1 pm
Minute To Win It - Library Breezeway
Join in several mini-challenges that will only take a minute or two to complete. Stop by on your way to class, and you could win big!

6 pm – 9 pm
Crate Stacking – Rec Center
Want a challenge? We have it! Stack crates as high as you can while standing on top. How many can you stack without falling? Bring your LU ID for entry into the Rec Center.

6 pm – 9 pm
"Is The Dream is Still Alive?" Panel Discussion – Landes Auditorium
Panel members will reflect on the life and times of Dr. King and how his call and sacrifices for a just society, where all are united to combat social injustices in all forms and at all levels, have impacted the Past, Present and hopefully remains relevant for the Future.


11 am – 2 pm
S'Mores and More – Rec Center
Come hang out on the back patio of the Rec Sports Center and join the Outdoor Pursuits staff for S’Mores and backyard games.

2 pm – 4 pm
Running Man Challenge – Rec Center
Based on a South Korean variety show, Running Man is a fun and exciting challenge for students - a series of games that earn your team rewards for the final name tag elimination challenge. It's like tag, but better! Sign up on OrgSync.

6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Roller Rave – Rec Center
A roller-skating dance party featuring all the fun of skating plus hot DJ's playing today's hits. Break out your glow sticks and 80's gear for a high-energy modern-day RAVE! We rock while you roll!


9:30 am – 11 am
MLK Day of Service – McDonald Gym
Make a difference in our neighborhood and join us as we give back to the community around Lamar. Get connected on campus in a service activity with Student Engagement staff and student leaders.

2 pm – 4 pm
Amazing Race – Cardinal Village
Are you a fan of the Amazing Race? Want to jump into a few fun challenges to win it all? Bring your BFF, roommate , or new best friend to win this two-person challenge!
